Breast Augmentation with Wide Gap

The base width of the breast is important when deciding implant size and shape. Generally, the implant size should be similar to the base width of the breast. This is a straight line measurement of the width of the breast, cleavage area to the outer boundary of the breast. Breast implants should be placed behind the existing breast location. A breast implant wider than the base width of the breast will narrow the gap between the breasts. This is an effective way to improve cleavage in patients who have laterally positioned breasts with a wide gap. Wider implants are also larger. The degree of gap narrowing is limited in patients who do not want larger sized breast implants.
